The Smoky Lake Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing affordable housing and designated supportive living services for seniors and individuals in the communities throughout Smoky Lake County.

Bar-V-Nook Manor and Supportive Living, located in the vibrant community of Smoky Lake 116 km northeast of Edmonton, is seeking Housekeeping Aide. Job Role

Reporting to the Community Manager and/or designate, the Housekeeping Aide is responsible for performing cleaning activities This position must provide clean, sanitary, comfortable, orderly, and satisfying surroundings for the residents, employees and public.

Job Duties

1. Follow cleaning schedule (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.,) as outlined for housekeeping

department.

2. Clean assigned areas, furnishings, and fixtures according to established

housekeeping procedures. Clean floors with dry mops, wet mops, sweeps, waxes,

buffs, disinfects where and when necessary.

4. Perform emergency housekeeping when accidents occur.

5. Clean movable and stationary furnishings and fixtures: Dusts, spot cleans or washes,

disinfects, when necessary, polishes where required. This includes the cleaning of

ledges, shelves, vents, empty and clean garbage and wastebaskets.

6. Send soiled linens to laundry.

8. Clean bathroom and disinfect all fixtures, floors, and walls.

9. Clean walls, windows mirrors, doors, and ceilings: Spot clean between washings,

washes, disinfect when necessary.

10. Clean all horizontal surfaces daily or as required, removing dust, dirt, or greasy film,

using disinfectants where necessary such as in resident rooms and common areas.

11. Perform move in and move out cleaning duties according to established checklists

when resident moves out or transfers to another suite, preparing room for new

occupant.

12. Report supply and equipment needs to Head Housekeeper for replenishing.

13. Use various mechanized cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, polishers, buffers,

etc.

14. Maintain lodge in a sanitary and infection-free condition through washing, cleaning

and replacement of equipment and furnishings.

15. Must clean up human waste and other body fluids, as required.

16. Must comply with all regulations such as OH&S and the Canadian environmental

protection act.

17. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Strong English communication skills are required; both written and verbal;
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Previous office experience, with solid skills in Microsoft Office;
  • Previous experience using YARDI® property management software;
  • Previous experience using electronic employee scheduling and timekeeping

software;

  • Clear Vulnerable Sector - Criminal Record Check;

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, meet schedules and deadlines.
  • Ability to anticipate needs and take the initiative to complete work in the absence of

direct supervision and constant direction;

  • Strong communication skills and professionalism when dealing with residents and the

public;

  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, empathy, and patience in providing quality

services to residents; and

  • Must be responsible for maintaining self-wellness and reduced absenteeism.
