Responsibilities
Develop, revise, and implement action plans, procedures, and policies in health, safety, and environment to continuously improve key performance indicators (KPIs).
Actively support operational teams daily in the rigorous application of the HSE program and the execution of their action plans.
Ensure a visible and proactive presence in the field to support foremen and represent management to employees on HSE issues.
Conduct in-depth risk analyses for workstations, equipment, and processes, propose corrective measures, and ensure meticulous follow-up.
Design, lead, and update HSE training programs tailored to the specific needs of different departments and new employees.
Collect, analyze, and maintain statistical data and performance indicators related to health, safety, and the environment, and produce reports for management.
Optimize existing prevention programs and deploy new ones, such as hazardous materials management, machine safety, and emergency plans.
Plan, prepare, and lead OHS committee meetings to mobilize members and ensure transparent and effective communication.
Supervise the joint health and safety committee and ensure the effective transmission of relevant information to employees.
Intervene quickly and effectively in any incident, accident, or environmental report, conduct investigations, and document findings.
Perform ergonomic assessments of workstations, identify risks of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), and recommend improvement solutions.
Actively contribute to the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the requirements of the ISO 14001 environmental management standard.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations, Engineering, Environment, or a related field.
A certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is a major asset.
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience as an HSE manager or coordinator in a manufacturing environment.
Work experience in a unionized and multi-site context is considered a significant advantage.
In-depth knowledge and mastery of the laws, regulations, standards, and policies governing health, safety, and the environment in Quebec (AOHS, ROHS, etc.).
Proven expertise in managing the ISO 14001 standard and applying recognized environmental practices.
Excellent knowledge of ergonomic and industrial hygiene principles.
Fluency in French, both spoken and written.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a variety of stakeholders (management, unionized staff, etc.).
Mobilizing leadership and a demonstrated ability to strengthen and promote a culture of health and safety prevention.
Solid experience in developing, deploying, and delivering engaging and effective HSE training.
Analytical and synthesis skills to interpret data, identify trends, and propose strategic solutions.
High degree of autonomy, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple files simultaneously with rigor and proactivity.
Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic and constantly evolving manufacturing environment, potentially across multiple sites.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze complex situations and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Ability to act as a change agent, positively influence behaviors, and gain team buy-in.
