Job Summary
As a Casual Health Care Aide, you will respond to variable shift needs, to assist clients/residents with daily living activities. You will work under supervision of nursing supervisor, ensuring safety, comfort, and well‑being of those in your care.
Key Responsibilities
- Personal care: bathing, grooming, dressing
- Mobility support: assisting with transfers, turning, positioning, uses of mobility aids
- Assisting with meals, feeding if required
- Toileting, incontinence care, changing linens
- Responding to call‑lights or requests from residents/clients
- Monitoring and reporting changes in physical/mental condition to supervising staff
- Maintaining cleanliness of client or resident environment; personal laundry; light housekeeping
- Following infection control, safety, privacy, and facility policies
Qualifications & Requirements
- Completion of a recognized Health Care Aide / HCA / Care Aide training program or equivalent;
- Registered and in good standing with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry
- Current certifications: First Aid, CPR. FoodSafe or equivalent may be preferred.
- Copy of driver’s license
- Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector; tuberculosis screening; up‑to‑date immunization as per employer/facility policy.
- Strong communication skills, reliability, compassion, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to perform tasks: lifting, moving clients safely, bending, etc.
Working Conditions
- No guaranteed hours; hours vary depending on demand, shift availability, staff absences etc. (typical for casual roles)
- Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and short‑notice/relief shifts.
- May travel between sites or clients in home support settings (if applicable). Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required in those cases.
- You will be expected to uphold strict infection control and client safety standards.
