- Job Description
- The Head of Operational Risk is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and oversight of the operational risk management framework across PartnerRe Group. This role ensures that operational risks are identified, assessed, monitored, and mitigated in alignment with the Group’s risk appetite and regulatory obligations. The position plays a critical role in embedding a strong risk culture and ensuring resilience across business units.
Your key responsibilities will be as follows
- Develop and maintain the Group-wide operational risk management framework, including policies, procedures, and governance structures.
- Lead risk assessments across business units, including outsourcing, IT, compliance, HR, and business continuity domains.
- Oversee operational risk reporting to Boards, Risk Committees, and regulators. Ensure timely escalation of incidents and emerging risks.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements such as DORA, Solvency II, and local outsourcing guidelines.
- Supervise the investigation and remediation of operational incidents and near misses. Promote transparent reporting and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, IT Security, and Audit functions to ensure integrated risk oversight.
- Coordinate with Covéa’s operational risk department and ensure alignment of key metrics.
- Qualifications
You bring a minimum 10 years of experience in operational risk management, preferably in (re)insurance. Furthermore, you possess at least some of the following skills
- Effective integration of operational risk into strategic decision-making.
- Timely and accurate reporting of operational risk metrics and incidents.
- Demonstrated reduction in risk exposure through proactive mitigation.
- Regulatory compliance across all jurisdictions.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- High engagement and performance.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing risk frameworks.
- Strong understanding of regulatory environments and risk governance.
- Experience navigating multi-jurisdictional regulatory landscapes.
- Professional certifications (e.g., FRM, CPA, CERA) are a plus.
