Job Description We are seeking a qualified and experienced Corporate Attorney to draft a legal opinion letter for Shanchie Research LTD. The letter must confirm that our company does not qualify as a Money Services Business (MSB) under Canadian law and is not required to register with the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC). This legal opinion is critical for facilitating the opening of bank and brokerage accounts in Canada to support our proprietary trading operations. Responsibilities Draft a comprehensive legal opinion letter addressing the following: Confirmation that Shanchie Research LTD, as a proprietary trading firm using its own funds, does not meet the definition of a Money Services Business (MSB) under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA). Analysis and conclusion that the company is not required to register with FINTRAC based on its business activities. Any relevant legal references, precedents, or regulatory guidelines to support the opinion. Ensure the letter is tailored to the specific needs of Canadian financial institutions (banks and brokerage firms). Provide clear, concise, and legally sound arguments suitable for submission to financial institutions. Qualifications Licensed attorney in good standing with a law society in Canada (preferably British Columbia). Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in corporate law, financial regulation, or compliance, with specific knowledge of Canadian anti-money laundering (AML) regulations and FINTRAC requirements. Proven experience drafting legal opinion letters for financial institutions or regulatory purposes. Strong understanding of the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) and its application to proprietary trading firms. Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills. Ability to deliver the letter within a reasonable timeframe (to be discussed with the selected candidate)
