Location: Toronto / GTA (with flexibility for on-site sessions in commercial kitchen facilities) We are seeking an experienced Food Science Engineer / Product Development Specialist to teach and guide our team. Key Responsibilities Training & Knowledge Transfer - Teach Zinca’s engineering and operations team how to formulate and produce energy bars. - Provide step-by-step practical training in a commercial kitchen setting. - Explain the technical properties of flours, binders, sweeteners, proteins, and other key ingredients. Product Development Support - Demonstrate different energy bar formulations (baked, extruded, cold-pressed, etc.). - Share insights on texture, shelf-life stability, and ingredient functionality. Technical Expertise & Safety - Train staff in safe and efficient use of commercial kitchen tools and equipment. - Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations (e.g., Food Handler Certificate standards). Qualifications Education & Experience - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Nutrition Science, or related field. - Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in food product development, preferably in energy bars, functional foods, or baked goods. Technical Skills - Strong knowledge of ingredient functionality: flours, binders, sweeteners, proteins, emulsifiers, fibers. - Practical experience with multiple energy bar production methods. - Familiarity with commercial kitchen and pilot-plant equipment. Certifications - Food Handler Certificate (required). - HACCP, PCQI, or equivalent food safety training (preferred).
