- The Lyft Urban Solutions (LUS) Firmware Engineer role is key in the development and delivery of Lyft’s micromobility hardware offerings, including electric bikes, scooters, batteries, stations, and more! We are looking for a Firmware Engineer who brings exceptional technical skills to contribute in NPI (New Product Introduction) and fleet sustainability programs that unlock value for the cities across the globe that use our products. Firmware Engineers at Lyft collaborate closely with hardware, operations, and manufacturing teams, necessitating strong technical expertise, leadership, and communication skills. They are proactive problem solvers who drive initiatives forward, ensuring the successful delivery of key results that significantly impact the business.
Responsibilities
- Develop features for embedded systems across our Micromobility product line(vehicles, docks, internal tools).
- Work with cross-functional teams to prototype, develop, and take to production, our next generation of world-class mobility products.
- Work on refinements and updates to to improve the overall experience on existing products.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 3+ Years developing in C/C++ for embedded systems.
- Familiarity with using Python for scripting and automated-test.
- Experience using an embedded real-time OS (FreeRTOS, ThreadX, etc).
- Understanding of low-level OS concepts(memory management, scheduling, threads, interrupts).
- Familiarity with ARM Cortex-M line of processors.
- Hands-on experience in supporting electrical bring-up and debugging.
- Strong embedded debugging skills including ability to use debug probes, signal analyzers, oscilloscopes and power analyzers.
- Experience translating product needs into actionable schedules.
- Strong communications skills for articulating technical approaches and sharing out risk and progress to non-technical audiences.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts.

- Lyft highly values having employees working in-office to foster a collaborative work environment and company culture. - The expected base pay range for this position in the Montreal area is CAD $88,000 - CAD $110,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
