- Job Description
- This position will be a member of our Product Biology Team and will generate field bioefficacy data within the Calgary and Alberta areas to support the development and registration of Crop Protection products in strategic crops.
- In this role, you will create field summary analytical reports and presentations, including internal summaries and Part 10 data packages for Regulatory submission, to support business growth and integrate new tools & technology (including digital tools and precision application equipment) into field implementation plans to define superior crop solutions for the portfolio.
- Accountabilities
- Plant, maintain, and harvest crop protection trials with relevance to the designated geography.
- Routine site/farm maintenance activities such as tillage, soil sampling, fertilizer applications, planting plots, applying/implementing chemical treatments,
- Collecting observations and in-season data, and maintaining the plots throughout the growing season.
- Gathering electronic and digital data from various precision technologies (e.g., GPS-guided equipment, soil sensors, and digital data capture technology)
- Meet data delivery timelines, including uploading data to various data domains.
- Data mining for product registration and technical profile development
- Lead the field development activities of biological data for crop protection products, demonstrating excellence to deliver all field requirements & activities.
- Recruit, train, and supervise summer students during trial season to ensure high-quality trial execution.
- Prepare written and verbal reports, including trial abstracts, scientific data summaries, and Part 10 efficacy data submissions for product registration.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with the university, government, contract research organizations, and extension specialists.
- Maintain and manage local facility infrastructure and administrative requirements for site operation.
- Follow company HSE standards and code of conduct.

- Competency to understand and recognize crop protection testing responses in the field development program
- Ability to successfully multitask efforts with assigned program and internal/external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently while also being able to engage as a supporting team member throughout the year
- Qualifications
- Knowledge, experience & capabilities
- M.Sc. in an area of crop science is considered desirable.
- Preferred 2-3 years’ experience managing a crop protection field research program.
- Demonstrated and proven knowledge of the cropping practices and strategies of the designated geography.
- Possess experience in pesticide application and the ability to obtain a pesticide applicator license.
- Knowledge of operating field equipment (i.e., tractor, sprayer, small plot combine, etc.).
- Knowledge of registering products with PMRA in Canada, and Knowledge of statistical field trial design is considered an asset.
