About

Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Noisy. Dusty. Odours. Work setting: Urban area. Relocation costs not covered by employer. Industrial. Tasks: Interpret engineering drawings and others' instructions to plan methods and sequences of operation. Lay out reference points and patterns. Plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal most efficiently. Assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures. Weld or bolt sections together. Set up and operate heavy-duty metal-working machines. Construct patterns and templates. Install fabricated components in final product. Rig, hoist and move materials to storage areas or within worksite. Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes. Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment. Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines. Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipment. Interpret welding process specifications. Operate oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), (AOC). Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications. Operate hoisting and lifting equipment. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Metal Fabricator Trade Certification. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Type of materials: Steel, iron and heavy metals. Welding techniques: Flux core arc welding (FCAW). Equipment and machinery experience: Brakes and presses. Cutting torches. Drills. Grinder. Shears.
