- As part of the Advanced development and manufacturing team, the fabrication technician plays a key role in supporting all advanced development and manufacturing projects. They actively participate in prototyping future products in various categories. They also contribute to process improvement, equipment modification, tool design, data analysis, mechanical testing, comprehensive reporting, troubleshooting, and recommendations. They influence the direction of development projects and their advanced manufacturing.
- RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify opportunities and test improvement iterations to increase process efficiency and reliability.
- Work closely with operators to prototype new projects.
- Support the daily operations of our manufacturing laboratory.
- Participate in various projects aimed at continuously improving our methods.
- Coordinate and support the manufacture of jigs and various advanced mechanical systems to support development projects.
- Develop and implement test protocols & process sequences and provide daily support to the engineering team.
- Document various research projects and produce reports on prototyping tests.
- Lead certain continuous improvement projects dedicated to improving the product and manufacturing processes.
- Ensure that technical documents comply with industry standards and specifications.
- Prepare 2D and 3D technical drawings and cost estimates for prototype manufacturing.
- Focus on the deployment of safety protocols and standards for equipment.
- REQUIREMENTS
- Technical degree in mechanical engineering (or other relevant degree)
- Minimum of 3 years in a fast-paced manufacturing or prototyping environment
- High level of autonomy and initiative
- Ability to prioritize in a constantly changing environment
- Strong organizational and structural skills, go-getter, data-driven and solution-oriented.
- Rigorous management of deadlines and processes.
- Strong analytical skills and team spirit
- In-depth knowledge of materials related to sporting goods, development, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of MS Office.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software.
- Ability to operate machine tools independently.
- Good understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and molding equipment.
- Proficiency in mechanical design - prototyping and tool design.
- Knowledge of hockey is a major asset.
- This position requires frequent travel (+/- 4 trips per year).
- Excellent command of French and English, both spoken and written.
