About
We're a women’s gym/street brand building plastic-minimized performance pieces. We favor cellulosics (cotton, TENCEL™ lyocell, hemp, Naia™ acetate) and natural-rubber stretch (spandex-free where possible). Looking for an experienced fabric/mill sourcer to curate suppliers, pull swatches, and recommend exact constructions for our first drops. What we need help with: - Supplier discovery & vetting: Identify mills/convertors that can deliver our knit types and finishes (Portugal, Turkey, USA/LA, Canada preferred; others welcome). - Swatch curation: Select exact fabric SKUs (or nearest make-ups), organize swatch pulls, and coordinate shipping to Canada. - Technical guidance: Recommend weights, yarns, constructions, finishes per style (see “Target fabrics”). - Compliance & chemistry: Ensure PFAS-free finishes, bisphenol-screened prints/adhesives (if any), and cotton origin documentation (UFLPA-aware). Target fabrics: Bottom-weight knits (spandex-free preferred) - 3-end loopback French terry (unbrushed) 330–360 gsm in: 100% cotton; 55/45 hemp/cotton; 70/30 cotton/TENCEL™. - Double-knit (interlock/Milano ponte) 320–360 gsm (same blends as above). - 100% organic-cotton fleece 300–380 gsm for lifestyle hoodies (not for workouts). Tops (tee-weight, plastic-minimized) - Hemp / organic-cotton jersey 170–210 gsm. - Cotton / TENCEL™ lyocell jersey 170–210 gsm. - Recycled-cotton / Naia™ (cellulose acetate) jersey 180–210 gsm. Stretch without spandex - Ability to plate cotton-covered natural-rubber (2–3%) into circular knits (as you would elastane). - Narrow elastics: natural rubber with cotton cover (waistbands/cuffs). Finishes & chemistry - PFAS-free (dendrimer/bio-based/polymer-infusion if repellency is used). - Enzyme + light bio-polish, reactive dyeing (or disperse for Naia™). - Prepared-for-dye/print (PFP/PFD) options. - Matching 100% cotton ribs for bodies. Deliverables (consultation → sourcing pack) Supplier Shortlist Matrix (Google Sheet): mill name, region, contacts, constructions available, fiber blends, gsm/width, finish notes, ability to plate natural rubber, matching ribs, MOQs/lead times, price range, certifications (OEKO-TEX, GOTS, Naia™, TENCEL™), PFAS statement, cotton origin/traceability (country, gin/spinner). Swatch Plan: exact SKUs (or tech equivalents) to order per style (jogger body, rib, gym tee, tight top/short, mesh). Fabric Recommendations: final call on weight/yarn/construction/finish per piece + basic test list (AATCC 135 shrink, D3512 pilling, 61/8 crock, spirality, D2594 growth/recovery; TOF PFAS screen; BPA/BPS sweat-extract where relevant). How we’ll work Start with a consultation (brand brief + requirements). Milestone 1: Supplier Shortlist Matrix + Swatch Plan. Milestone 2: Final Recommendations + Shortlist supplier fabric procurement coordination. Ongoing (optional): swatch follow-through, lab testing coordination, and bulk hand-off. To apply (please answer briefly) Share 2–3 mills you’ve used for loopback terry or ponte in cotton/hemp/lyocell, with your contact there. Have you plated natural-rubber into circular knits before? If yes, where, and what %/limitations did you run? What’s your approach to PFAS-free assurance and cotton origin verification for U.S. shipments? Link a supplier matrix or similar document you built (feel free to redact pricing). Thank you!
