• POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Supervisor – Roads Maintenance and the direction of the Leadhand, operates construction and maintenance equipment.

MAJOR TASKS

• Operates construction and maintenance equipment within the classification.
• Operates other equipment within the classification when required.
• Inspects equipment daily and carries out minor servicing of equipment being operated.
• Reports all equipment defects.
• Fills out time cards and marks in proper account distribution.
• Reports materials used to the Supervisor, Leadhand or stores personnel.
• Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be reliable and be able to understand, read, write and speak English fluently
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class “D” Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent with a ‘Z’ endorsement
• Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
• Must be proficient in operation of a Grader “B”, and street sweeper.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
• May be required to provide a successful driver’s record (uncertified)
