Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate cooking instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cooking and experience working with children of various ages. This role involves fostering a positive learning environment and helping students learn the basics of cooking. The instructor will work closely with students to enhance their understanding while promoting confidence and motivation.
Duties
- Lead cooking and nutrition-based enrichment classes
- Develop age-appropriate, fun, and educational cooking curriculum
- Implement effective classroom management techniques to maintain a focused learning environment.
- Utilize behavior management strategies to support students with diverse learning needs
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and adjusting teaching methods as necessary.
- Foster a supportive atmosphere that encourages student participation and enthusiasm for learning how to cook.
- Ensure safe food handling and student participation
- Introduce students to healthy eating habits and cultural foods
Experience
- Proven experience working with children in various settings such as daycare, camps, or tutoring environments.
- Strong background in early childhood education or childhood development is preferred.
- Experience in classroom management, behavior management, and special education is highly desirable.
- A passion for teaching and the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience in culinary arts, nutrition, or food education
- Passion for teaching and engaging youth
- ServSafe certification (preferred but not required)
- Ability to adapt lessons to different age groups
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 6 – 15 per week
Work Location: In person
