  • Summary:  Coordinate and supervise all activities on the warehouse dock afternoon shift and ensures operations are coordinated efficiently.  Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain excellent customer service to internal and external customers at all times.
  • Plan the shift work schedule by reviewing existing work orders, arrival notices and instructions from customers.
  • Assess priorities based on time sensitivity and available resources.
  • Assign duties appropriate to warehouse staff.
  • Review pending jobs or trends, plan for reorganization of warehouse space, and needed changes in levels of supplies, equipment or staffing needs.
  • Train new staff in assigned duties, and quality management activities or delegates training responsibilities to experienced specialist.
  • Assign selective supervisory tasks as needed to experienced specialists acting as leads for lower level warehouse staff.
  • Monitor quality and quantity of jobs performed throughout the day, providing advice and guidance as necessary.
  • Keep abreast of progress on problems.
  • Keep manager advised of progress or problems requiring attention on a daily basis.
  • Hold regular meetings with warehouse staff to assess group’s overall status.
  • Promote positive relationship with clients by providing excellent customer service.
  • Provide responsible supervision and control for all department activities.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for all staff within the department and address all employee performance problems promptly and directly in accordance with personnel policies of the company.

  • Requirements:  
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Capable of communicating and interacting effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds and ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, management and customers.
  • PC Literate. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability. Ability to allocate work assignments and/or tasks or responsibility to others and hold them accountable to maximize the effectiveness of the individual and the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using units of US and/or international currency, weight, volume and distance measurements.
  • Customer focused. Makes customers and their needs the primary focus of one’s actions, developing and sustaining productive relationships.
  • Takes actions that are consistent with available facts, constraints and probable consequences.

Minimum

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one year of supervisory or management experience.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in warehouse/dock operations.
  •  

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in International Business, Logistics or Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Finance or related discipline or equivalent combination of work experience and education.
  • Minimum three years of industry experience.
  • Experience working with a Union is an asset

  • Travel: None
  • Salary Range: $62,000 - $77,500
  • Shift: Afternoons (Mon - Fri, 3PM - 11:30PM)
