Responsibilities
As a Dispatcher, you will be responsible for supporting and monitoring all on-road activities completed by drivers during your shift:
Driver & Trip Management: Assess and support all driver inquiries. Provide necessary trip information and tools, including trip sheets, access codes for locations, trip numbers, and tractor keys.
Monitoring & Tracking: Actively track and monitor all driver activity and progress utilizing specialized logistics software (Back Office and XRS).
Operational Updates: Ensure Trip Sheets are accurately completed and A1 live updates are processed, progressing trips as required. Support senior planner and account coordinator requests by completing all daily add-ons.
Customer Communication (CSR Duties): Handle evening Customer Service Representative (CSR) duties, responding to all customer requests in a timely and professional manner.
Logistics Coordination: Maintain effective, streamlined communication with drivers, customers, and other departments to quickly respond to challenges like traffic or weather disruptions and ensure on-time deliveries.
Qualifications
MUST HAVE Experience: 6 months to 1 year of recent, hands-on freight dispatching experience is required. Experience with a large carrier or high-volume transportation operation is highly preferred.
Local Knowledge: Strong knowledge of the City of Edmonton (major routes, areas, and traffic patterns) is highly valued and necessary for successful routing.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with logistics/telematics software (Back Office, XRS, or similar) is a strong asset.
Work Ethic: Ability to manage high-volume calls and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and proven experience in handling multiple priorities.
Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a quick learner with a positive, solutions-focused attitude.
