The Federation of Metro Tenants' Associations (FMTA) is Canada’s oldest and largest tenant advocacy organization, established in 1974, with over 3,000 members. FMTA educates and informs tenants about their rights through its Tenant Infohub, workshops, and multilingual resources. Its Outreach & Organizing Team helps tenant groups challenge issues like rent increases and evictions while assisting with forming tenant associations. FMTA also leads campaigns for stronger tenant rights by engaging with government officials and the media to push for fair housing laws and better enforcement of tenant protections.
