The Opportunity The South Bow Field Integrity group is seeking a skilled Corrosion Technician to join our team. Reporting to the Corrosion Manager, this role is integral to supporting both internal and external corrosion prevention programs across our Canadian system. While the position is primarily based in Acheson, AB, there is potential for placement in Hardisty or Calgary, AB. The successful candidate will provide advanced technical expertise to ensure compliance with the Corporate Corrosion Control Program and maintain the integrity of our piping system through problem-solving, project development and management, scope development, data analysis, and participation in regulatory audits. What you’ll do • Collect and manage external data, quality control data from contractors, and oversee field execution of corrosion-related projects • Manage contractors, consultants, and vendors in the implementation of corrosion control programs, including procurement, specification development, and project scope documentation for corrosion surveys and cathodic protection system installations • Provide advanced troubleshooting for cathodic protection and coating systems • Ensure regulatory criteria, requirements, and obligations are met by the specified deadlines • Maintain and audit corrosion databases and records to ensure compliance with regulatory standards • Represent the company during regulatory field audits of the corrosion control program • Provide technical expertise to assess and resolve design, operational, and maintenance issues related to corrosion control • Identify and collaborate on the mitigation of interference issues • Provide technical support to project management teams on cathodic protection system designs • Manage the rectifier remote monitoring system • Review, revise, and develop company processes and procedures related to corrosion control • Perform and assist fellow Corrosion Technicians with field testing and troubleshooting as needed Minimum Qualifications • 3 years of cathodic protection work experience • NACE (AMPP) CP 1 or higher certifications • Proven understanding of CER/AER regulations Preferred Qualifications • Project Management certification (i.e. PMP) • Post-secondary technical education in a related field • NACE (AMPP) CIP 2 or higher certification • API 570 Certification This position requires candidates to: • Complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, and provide a driver’s abstract (record) for review • Be available occasionally for extended work hours outside of standard business hours, including callouts as needed • Travel to other company or supplier locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training; project-related travel may account for up to 50% of the work schedule About our business South Bow's existing oil & liquids pipeline infrastructure connects Alberta crude oil supplies to U.S. refining markets in Illinois, Oklahoma, Texas and the U.S. Gulf Coast.
