  • Position Overview
  • We are seeking a 3rd- or 4th‑year Electrical Engineering Co‑op Student to join our engineering and product development team. This position offers hands‑on experience designing and testing electrical and automation systems that support life support barges, oxygenation systems, sea cages, and other aquaculture technology solutions.
  • You will work alongside a highly capable team of engineers and technicians on real-world engineering challenges, contributing to projects that move from concept to deployment.   • Term: 8 months preferred
  • Start Date: May 2026 – Summer/Fall 
  • Location: Campbell River, BC
  • Responsibilities
  • * Assist with circuit board schematic design, layout, testing, and validation of embedded control hardware.
  • * Develop automation system simulations to model oxygen generators, compressors, pumps, valves, and related subsystems for system testing and validation.
  • * Perform bench testing, debugging, and verification of electrical and embedded systems, documenting findings improvements.
  • * Create and modify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • * Assist with upgrades, validation, and continuous improvement of existing product lines.
  • * Support fieldwork such as system installation, commissioning, and data collection (as needed).
  • * Contribute to research and development efforts focused on new technologies and system enhancements.
  • * Collaborate with engineers throughout design, prototyping, and deployment phases.
  • Skills Needed to Be Successful
  • * 3rd- or 4th-year Electrical Engineering student preferred; candidates from related disciplines with strong electronics and software aptitude will also be considered.
  • * Persistence and curiosity when solving engineering challenges.
  • * Strong foundation in electrical circuits.
  • * Experience reading or creating electrical schematics.
  • * Basic understanding of PLCs, automation, or embedded systems.
  • * Exposure to embedded programming (C/C++) and scripting or analysis tools such as Python.
  • * Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • * Comfortable working of office, lab, shop, and outdoor settings.
