Overview:
Gaspard Cap and Gown provides academic regalia rental services for graduates and faculty participating in Thompson Rivers University convocation ceremonies. The Convocation Hood and Gown Attendant plays a key role in ensuring a seamless and positive experience for all attendees on their special day.
Position Purpose:
Reporting to the Gaspard Manager, the Convocation Hood and Gown Attendant is responsible for delivering professional, friendly, and efficient service throughout the regalia distribution process. As part of a collaborative team, this position serves as the first point of contact for graduates and faculty, helping create a memorable and stress-free experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a warm, professional, and welcoming atmosphere for all graduates and faculty.
- Distribute hoods and gowns efficiently and accurately.
- Offer clear instructions to graduates and faculty regarding regalia, as directed by the Gaspard Manager.
- Unpack, sort, and prepare hoods and gowns prior to each ceremony.
- Collect and repack regalia after the ceremony concludes.
- Assist with loading and unloading boxes of regalia (must be able to lift 25+ kg).
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the regalia distribution area.
- Support setup and cleanup efforts before and after each day of ceremonies.
- Help manage the flow of graduates and faculty through the gowning space.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Gaspard Manager.
Qualifications:
- Preference given to current Thompson Rivers University students available for all scheduled shifts.
- Punctual, reliable, and capable of managing time effectively.
- Able to work collaboratively and support fellow team members as needed.
- Physically capable of lifting and moving boxes (25+ kg) and completing tasks efficiently.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and committed to completing tasks accurately and thoroughly.
- Must possess a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) to be eligible for payment.
- International students must be available for up to 12 hours (or until work is completed), unless alternate availability is discussed during the interview.
Schedule & Pay:
- Setup Day: October 9, 2025 – 9:00 AM start (4–5 hours)
- Graduation Day: October 10, 2025 – 8:00 AM start to approximately 3:30 PM finish
- Flexibility and commitment required from start to finish – it is difficult to replace attendants last minute.
- Compensation: $18.40 CAD per hour
