Job Description: position Purpose summary: The Community Ministries Worker C assists in the organization and distribution of services in our Community Ministries Office. BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Consistently demonstrates empathy and concern for clients/families Provides emergency food hampers to clients as needed May assist in the maintenance of client files and statistical records, as directed Assists in the organization, maintenance and general cleanliness of the Community Ministries Space. Receives (and/or declines) and sorts/organizes non-monetary donations or purchased products following standard procedures May be responsible for ensuring safe handling of hazardous materials Arranges for discarding of items that are not usable in accordance with policy May direct work of volunteers assisting in Community Ministries May help prepare/serve community meals in house or on the CRU (food truck) Helps with seasonal tasks where needed such as Christmas Hampers/Kettles Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications and Education requirements: *NOTE: For some jobs, you may be required to provide validated educational documentation. Education/Certifications: The successful job applicant will have completed Public School. First Aid/CPR Food Safe Level 1 BC Driver’s License Experience: Minimum one (1) year of prior related experience, including, experience working with multi-barriered persons. Required Skills/Knowledge: WHMIS Training The performance of the job requires attentive listening (empathy to clients/volunteers), and attention to detail when entering data/computer work. PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: The performance of the job requires a frequent amount of loading/unloading trucks, handing out hampers, receiving/sorting out donated or purchased goods, and computer work. Able to pick up 50 pounds Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide: Background check consent A clear vulnerable sector screening A clean drivers abstract Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training HOURS: Temporary, full time, 35 hours per week Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $17.85 to $20.43 with a maximum of $24.52. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
