Summary
- Note: The start date for this position is September 2026. The length of the term is 12 months until August 2027.
- AltaLink’s Substation Project Delivery Group is currently looking for a Co-op/Internship student who will assist in the delivery of capital projects. The primary focus will be to manage the design, cost, quality, schedule, and safety for multiple substation and Transmission Line projects. The Project Delivery team is accountable for the delivery of AltaLink’s Capital Replacement and Upgrade program. This program has a total budget of $120 million and consists of approximately 500 projects per year. Working within the Project Delivery Department, the successful candidate will assist the team in identifying and developing solutions to power system operational issues to ensure the safe, efficient and reliable real-time operation of AltaLink's transmission system.
Responsibilities
The following activities will be performed under the guidance of an experienced AltaLink Project Manager
- Assist in the management of consultants and construction contractors. Includes the creation of schedules, contract documents and the review of invoices.
- With a commitment to Safety and Environment, actively manage and report on Safety and Environment.
- Assist in financial management of projects and the creation of monthly cost forecasts.
- Assist in the creation of applications for regulatory approvals.
- Regular site visits to audit construction activities and progress.
- Manage and coordinate multiple customers and changing priorities.
- Manage and communicate with consultants and AltaLink project team members on project scope, objectives, accountabilities and commitments.

Qualifications
- An Engineering student who has completed two or more years of study and is enrolled in a Co-Op/Internship program at a recognized University.
- A valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license.
- Experience working with Substation engineering/construction would be an asset. Project Management experience would be an asset.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Superior organizational and time management skills.
- Capable of managing multiple competing priorities.
- Experience working in SAP would be an asset.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive customer outcomes.
- Proven track record of good attendance and job performance.
