Job Description: Position Purpose summary: Boundless Vancouver organizes The Christmas Toy Shop which includes both the collection and distribution of toys and Christmas hampers. The Christmas Caseworker works directly with individuals and families (our neighbours) who are the recipients of toys and Christmas hampers. The Caseworker creates an invitational space that honours our neighbours by providing administration and coordination of registration, processing, sorting, and distribution. KEY Accountabilities: Evaluate and process applications for our Christmas program according to registration criteria. Assist with Toy Shop set up and preparations. Assist in the maintenance of files as directed. Work in a busy environment in a team setting with a calm and positive attitude. Ability to understand and be sensitive to cultural differences. Maintain confidentiality and keep accurate files and statistical records, using the Link2Feed database. Assist in the organization, set-up, maintenance, and general cleanliness of the facility, Toy Shop & Warehouse. Professional public appearance and demeanor. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Maintain confidentiality and keep accurate notes/files. Responsibly manage valuables/assets that will be distributed to neighbours, keeping secure daily. Perform other related duties as assigned. Health & Safety: Background check consent A clear vulnerable sector screening Completion of online abuse prevention training Required Health and Safety training CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT Governance Boards and Councils: Internal: N/A External: N/A MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Reports directly to Caseworker Direct reports: N/A FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT: Responsibly manage valuables/assets such as toys and gift cards that will be distributed to neighbours, keeping secure daily. Working Conditions: The job incumbent may be exposed to the risk of minor harm, injury, or illnesses due to: Verbal or physical attacks by others (i.e., violent/aggressive neighbour). Exposure to infectious diseases. May be required to lift objects up to 30 lbs. The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct. education and experience Qualifications: Education, Qualifications and Certifications: High School Education (an alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable). Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements: Up to three (3) months of prior related experience, including experience working with multi-barriered neighbours. Demonstrate empathy and concern for families with respect, assertiveness, and tact. Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office. Trauma-informed care training an asset. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training an asset. Skills and Capabilities Excellent organizational skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proven ability to multitask. Team mindset. Be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $17.85 to $21.66 with a maximum of $25.99. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
