Job Description: Position Purpose summary: This position develops, implements, and facilitates program for children, ages 6 to 12, ensuring activities are provided in a safe fun and inclusive environment Accountabilities: Facilitation and Client Support: Creates, implements and facilitates various youth and children programs depending on client need. Works collaboratively with other service providers on site. Networks with and refers clients’ families, as needed, to other programs within Community Services (Calgary) as well as external service providers. Refers family for specialized services for their children based on observations. Ensures that all resources are inventoried and organized. Maintains The Salvation Army Accreditation standards in all areas. Volunteer Support and Engagement: Works with the Volunteer Coordinator to engage volunteers for the program. Trains, schedules, and leads volunteers assigned to the program. Orients, coaches, recognizes, and evaluates volunteers that are part of the program. Administration: Prepares monthly program report and submits to manager. Participates in program evaluation and assessments. May assist manager in researching and developing future community partnerships. Accumulate relevant programs statistics. Always maintains client confidentiality. Participates in program staff meetings. Attends other meetings as requested by the supervisor. Annual Responsibilities: Conducts annual review of program curriculum and makes recommendations for enhancements or changes to ensure continued relevance. Assists with preparation of annual programs statistics. Working Conditions: This is a full-time fixed term position at 40 hours per week from October 14, 2025 to October 16, 2026. Works within a community based centered in a childcare/ activity environment Deals with typical child behavior May be exposed to infectious diseases Education, Qualifications and Certifications: Completed a two-year college diploma in a child development or related field. Police information check (PIC) with vulnerable sector search Child intervention check Standard first aid certificate with level C CPR from an Alberta approved provider Incumbents with a social work diploma or degree must be registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers. Experience and Knowledge Requirements: At least three years of prior related experience in facilitating a program for children. Knowledgeable about legislation regarding reporting of child abuse/neglect. Familiar with current educational resources for children. Uses best methods/practices for teaching. Is aware of various learning styles: visual, auditory and kinesthetic. Adds elements in program that supports all learning styles. Incorporates variety of art mediums into program. Skills and Capabilities: Proficient in MS Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, TEAMS, Word, etc.) Strong communication skills to clearly communicate with, and engage, children/youth of different ages. Enjoys interacting with a wide range of children from different backgrounds. Aware of legal responsibilities regarding reporting of child abuse and neglect. Demonstrates healthy boundaries with youth and children. Promotes respect for cultural diversity. Team player who makes positive contributions to the team and supports coworkers. Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $49,912.66 to $62,390.83 with a maximum of $74,869.00. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
