  • What You’ll Do
  • As the Chief of Police, you will be the senior leader responsible for all operational, policing, and administrative functions of the Niagara Parks Police Service (NPPS). You will guide the development and execution of policing strategy and ensure that the Commission’s strategic priorities are translated into effective operational goals that uphold the safety, security, and integrity of all Niagara Parks Commission (NPC) lands, visitors, and assets.
  • In this role, you will provide authoritative oversight of all policing activities, including the enforcement of the Criminal Code, applicable federal and provincial statutes, and the Niagara Parks Act. You will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer, NPC leadership, and law‑enforcement partners to deliver a coordinated, consistent, and high‑performing public safety environment across the organization.

 You will

  • * Provide strategic leadership to the Niagara Parks Police Service (NPPS) and expert guidance to NPC management on policing, security, emergency response, and emergency management across all Niagara Parks Commission (NPC) lands.
  • * Serve as a key member of the Commission’s senior management team, contributing to strategic planning, organizational direction, and the development of short‑ and long‑term goals in partnership with the CEO.
  • * Lead and oversee all NPPS operations, including investigations, policing protocols, emergency preparedness, and the achievement of service performance standards.
  • * Develop, implement, and manage NPPS policies, procedures, and operational plans, ensuring compliance with policing legislation, FOI requirements, NPC policies, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • * Monitor policing, legislative, and regulatory trends and provide proactive analysis, recommendations, and formal reports to the CEO, senior management, and the Board.
  • * Prepare and present quarterly and annual reports to the Regional Municipality of Niagara Police Services Board and deliver corporate policing reports and recommendations to the CEO and Commission.
  • * Lead the development, preparation, and oversight of the NPPS operating and capital budgets, including financial monitoring, forecasting, asset management, and capital project planning.
  • * Ensure effective public safety coordination, including security for major events and dignitary visits, oversight of NPC security systems, and collaboration with the Niagara Regional Police Service and other law enforcement agencies.
  • * Provide strong people leadership, including hiring, training and development, performance management, employee relations, and workforce planning (scheduling, overtime, and leave).
  • * Represent the NPPS and Niagara Parks through engagement with police services, associations, community groups, and external agencies to support public safety and organizational priorities.
  • What You’ll Bring
  • * 20+ years of experience in a Police Service, as a Sworn Officer including a minimum of 5 years of experience in the capacity of a Senior Officer with demonstrated leadership, operational, administrative and command experience.
  • * Fulfill the requirements for approval of an appointment as a Special Constable by the Regional Municipality of Niagara Police Service Board under the Community Safety and Policing Act.
  • * Successful completion of a university degree in a relevant field or equivalent police-related education, knowledge and experience.
