Flexihire Talent is a small corporation based in British Columbia, Canada, registered on December 31, 2024. This is our first corporate tax year, and we are seeking a qualified Canadian CPA to provide long-term support for tax preparation, filing, and occasional financial consultation. We currently have a bookkeeper handling day-to-day accounting, using QuickBooks Online, so you will primarily focus on tax compliance, filing, and strategic advice. This is a long-term engagement, with yearly corporate and personal tax filings and ad-hoc financial consultation for the owner. Qualifications 1. Active Canadian CPA designation in good standing with a provincial body (e.g., CPA BC). 2. Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate and personal tax preparation in Canada. 3. Experience working with small businesses or incorporated professionals, preferably in BC. 4. Proficient in QuickBooks Online and other standard accounting or tax software. 5. Strong knowledge of CRA compliance, tax credits, corporate structures, and financial planning. 6. Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills. 7. High attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality. Key Responsibilities 1. Corporate Tax Preparation & Filing * Prepare and file the corporate T2 tax return for Flexihire Talent (BC-based) for 2025 and future years. * Prepare all related schedules and provincial filings. * Ensure compliance with CRA regulations and deadlines. 2. Personal Tax Preparation & Filing * Prepare and file the owner’s personal T1 tax return for 2025 and subsequent years. * Advise on integration of corporate and personal tax planning (salary vs. dividends, shareholder loans, etc.). 3. Strategic Tax & Financial Advice * Provide tax planning guidance to optimize deductions, credits, and overall tax position. * Offer occasional consultation on financial planning and decisions affecting the owner or the corporation. * Review prior-year filings to identify tax-saving opportunities or compliance gaps. 4. Collaboration with Bookkeeper * Work with the existing bookkeeper to review financial statements and records. * Ensure QuickBooks data is properly structured for filing purposes. 5. Record Keeping & Compliance * Advise on maintaining proper documentation and records for CRA review or audit. * Provide guidance on GST/HST filings, payroll remittances, and other compliance obligations, if needed. Preferred Qualifications 1. Experience advising small, newly incorporated companies. 2. Familiarity with financial planning and strategic decision-making for business owners. 3. Knowledge of cross-border tax issues (optional). Engagement Details Start Date: Immediate Engagement Type: Contract / Freelance (long-term), as needed basis Hours: Flexible; primarily seasonal around tax filings, plus ad-hoc consultation. Compensation: Competitive hourly or project-based rate, negotiable based on experience.
