Job Description: Position Purpose summary: Reporting to the Divisional Camping Ministries Director, this position maintains the camp as a viable rental facility during the off-season and promotes the camp’s profile within the community. This position is also responsible for the required correspondence related to bookings and rentals for the off-season, as well as Summer RV Park bookings and correspondence. This position also coordinates seasonal facilities staff. Accountabilities: OVERALL HOSPITALITY & PROPERTY: Promote and support the mission and vision of TSA within the context of Camp Sunrise. Responsible with the Camp Management Team in carrying out the strategic plan and achieving the vision for the camp. Assist the Divisional Camping Ministries Director in the preparation of the annual Camp Sunrise budget by providing information when requested. Together with the Maintenance Supervisor, oversee the day-to-day operations of PLC, including identifying and resolving of risk management situations, ensuring the protection, security and peaceful enjoyment of the property. Participate in all Camp Sunrise and BCYD team meetings. In consultation with the Divisional Camping Ministries Director, ensure that the accreditation requirements of The Salvation Army, the British Columbia Camping Association and the Christian Camping Association are consistently met including any government regulations and laws. In consultation with the Divisional Camping Ministries Director and as part of the Camp Sunrise Management Team, conduct risk assessment as required, make recommendations and implement preventive measures. In consultation with the Divisional Camping Ministries Director, hire, orientate, train, evaluate, recognize and recommend disciplinary actions including termination in concert with Territorial/Divisional standards. In consultation with the Divisional Youth Secretaries, ensure direct reports complete the mandatory training and e-learnings within the set time frame and constantly review the skills and competencies of staff to adequately meet the requirements of the job. Acquire and forward all quotes on work projects or purchases to Divisional Camping Ministries Director Expedite the work orders and purchases as they are passed by Divisional Camping Ministries Director. Ensure all requisitions for purchases, services, etc. are processed according to established procedures. In consultation with the Divisional Camping Ministries Director, assist Maintenance Supervisor to ensure that the camp remains in good operating order, and that a high level of appearance is maintained. TSA camping (Summer Camping Ministry/FUSE/Men’s Camp/Women’s Camp): Ensure that Sunrise consistently strives to provide guests with a high level of service and overall value. Provide oversight, orientation and training of kitchen and housekeeping staff, focusing on developing skills with new staff. Provide encouragement, instruction, ongoing feedback performance management to kitchen staff while maintaining professionalism and a respectful work environment. Purchase necessary administrative, housekeeping and food services supplies. Ensure proper food storage & kitchen cleanliness before groups arrive and when they leave. Assist Head Cook by providing guidance and help with problem solving, portion control, and waste management. Ensure the Tuck Shop stock is maintained, and supply orders are completed accordingly. Other administrative duties as required, which including documentation, tracking statistics and assisting other program staff/volunteers as needed. OFF-SEASON RENTALS / Lower Camp: Ensure that Camp Sunrise consistently strives to provide guests with a high level of service and overall value. Identify potential clients and provide them with relevant facility rental information. Camp Brain (software): confirm, document, and coordinate all bookings; ensure that deposits and rental fees and balances are received. Oversee the onsite coordination and hosting of guest groups. Ensure that guests are greeted upon arrival and checked in at the Office. Ensure guests are aware of and comply with Camp Sunrise. Be available to answer any questions or give assistance to guests, making sure their stay is a positive experience. Identify, develop and implement improved methods of operating an effective and efficient rental experience. Monitor costs associated with rental groups and make recommendations regarding appropriate fees and rental rates. Survey clientele to determine their needs, expectations and future rental opportunities. Ensure buildings are clean and ready for occupancy by rental groups and oversee end-of-week (extra) cleaning duties. Manage and store all documentation for Criminal Record checks and trailer documentation for Lower Camp trailers Oversee and schedule off season staff MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY: Reports directly to: Divisional Camping Ministries Director Direct reports for this position: Kitchen Staff, Dining Hall Staff, Facilities Staff, (including volunteers) FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT: In consultation with the Divisional Camping Ministries Director, budgeting and fiscal oversight of areas pertaining to hospitality and food orders Approval for expenditures up to $3,000 WORKING CONDITIONS: On call 24/7 to look after problems seen and unforeseen as they arise Travel is required to the camp in the off season and must stay on site at Camp Sunrise during the summer season. Must be on site from May - September during the summer season and then on site as required with group rentals The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement, in a professional manner, exemplifying Christian standards of conduct. education and experience Qualifications: Education, Qualifications and Certifications: Diploma/Certificate in Hospitality Management, Food Service Management, or related area First Aid & CPR Safe Food Handling certificate WHMIS certifications and safety courses/training Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements 5 to 7 years of related experience Skills and Capabilities: Creative problem solver with strong organizational and communication skills. Supervisory/management skills and the ability to lead, coach and motivate. Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited direct supervision. Knowledge of online booking systems (Camp Brain or similar) would be an asset. Software training will be provided as needed. Ability to work independently and participate as an active and responsible team member in a cooperative team environment. Represent TSA in a positive, professional and engaging manner. Ability to anticipate and identify issues and problem solve. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to complete assignments and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills. Lead by example, by demonstrating a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and be flexible in the face of change. Exhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills and respect authority. Ability to work effectively with clients and staff in a culturally diverse environment. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $52,228.81 to $65,286.01 with a maximum of $78,343.21. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
