Role: Backend Java Developer

Location: Montreal, Quebec, CA (HYBRID)

Description:

• The goal of the project is to provide easy access to a broad range of reference data information for the Fixed Income and Equity business unit to help them make informed business decisions. The project involves some degree of data warehousing, a data access layer that provides transparent access to data whether it resides in the warehouse or elsewhere, and interfaces which are used by traders, sales and research.
• We are seeking a Java developer who would work on a plant comprising of various components built using Java, Scala, Shell, Sybase technologies.
• The developer will work on the project supporting loaders and investigating problems reported by users.
• The successful candidate will also work on development projects with the NY, Montreal & India based teams.
• This individual should have superior communication and problem-solving skills.
• This individual is expected to be flexible with learning new technologies and should have some basic SQL programming skills.
• We are looking for someone who is a hands-on developer and is interested in interacting with the business users.
• He/she should have exposure to Financial Markets and be interested in learning the Fixed Income Pricing world.

Responsibilities:

• Attend daily scrum- Develop Java/Scala code- Create unit tests- Communicate with clients about requirements and deliverables

Skills Required:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related streams.
• Strong in Java, basic SQL, and OOP concepts
• Familiarity in UNIX shell scripting languages
• Familiarity of the UNIX/Linux environment
• Working knowledge of RDBMS
• Knowledge in logical and physical relational data modeling

Skills Desired:

• Familiarity in Scala, KAFKA, Dockers, Kubernetes- Knowledge of Sybase ASE, T-SQL, stored procedure development, performance tuning, query optimization.
