Job Description What is the opportunity? As part of the Group Risk Management (GRM) team, the Associate Director, BCRM Monitoring & Reporting will support key elements of the BCRM Program to ensure policy and standard requirements are adhered to by the Enterprise, aligned to RBC’s Operational Risk Management Framework, regulatory expectations, jurisdictional requirements and industry standards. This role will execute effective oversight and challenge over the business/First Line of Defense (1LOD), with a large focus on the oversight of our core Operational Risk practices. The role will be instrumental in ensuring program effectiveness by providing operational risk guidance related to business continuity risk, collaborating across teams and promoting business continuity awareness across the organization to ensure overall organizational resiliency. What will you do? Support the BCRM strategy, culture and activities that enable the team to operate as an integrated organization Support a culture of integrity and behaviors that align to RBC’s Code of Conduct, Leadership Model and professional standards Work collaboratively across teams, contributing to an engaged workforce who are effective, knowledgeable and adaptable Foster an environment of continuous personal growth Design and implementation of the Enterprise Business Continuity Risk Appetite, key risk and performance indicators across RBC to ensure effective adoption of the BCRM Policy and Standard by platform, region and legal entity to support the monitoring program Provide oversight and challenge for risk assessments on change initiatives across the organization for business continuity risk as required Provide subject matter expertise and advice to stakeholders and management in managing business continuity risk Support a strong culture of risk and integrity through effective challenge and deep partnership with first line to promote transparency of risks and matters requiring escalation Support Director in conducting an independent, thematic reviews and emerging risk assessments to increase awareness of risk exposures Investigate large loss events/incidents related to BCRM/business disruption to assess potential systemic weaknesses and ensure appropriate corrective action Strengthen our Operational Risk practices across the BCRM Centre of Governance to perform effective oversight and challenge with stakeholders on Enterprise Issue Management, Risk Registry and Risk & Control Self-Assessment, Operational Risk Events, Scenario Analysis etc. Partner with 1st line of defense on the execution and effectiveness of BCRM program (independent reviews, deep dive reviews, and risk assessments etc.) to gain assurance on current and emerging issues Participate in various forums, working groups, and committees as well as monitor the internal and external environment to keep abreast of organizational, regulatory, strategic, and operational changes and environmental trends impacting business continuity management practices What do you need to succeed? Must-have: 7+ years of Operational Risk experience, and/or knowledge, skill and background in Audit ideally within the Banking and/or financial services industry Sound Knowledge and experience with operational risk programs, risk assessments, internal controls, monitoring and reporting.
