- Are you passionate about preserving culture, history, and stories for future generations? Ta na wa Ns7éyx̱ nitm ta Snew̓iyelh (Language and Cultural Affairs) is seeking a dedicated Archivist to play a central role in safeguarding the heritage of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation).

- WHAT YOU’LL DO
- * Evaluate, select, arrange, and retrieve archival materials, ensuring their long-term preservation.
- * Respond to inquiries related to Language, Culture & Archives.
- * Organize exhibitions, talks, workshops, tours, and other outreach programming.
- * Apply for grant funding to support archival and preservation initiatives.
- * Negotiate acquisitions and support repatriation of Squamish artifacts and collections.
- * Oversee the Archives budget and maintain accurate, ethical records.
- * Authenticate and appraise historical documents and materials.
- * Create and maintain accessible digital archives, including the implementation of a Content Management System.
- WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- * A Diploma or Certificate in First Nations Studies, Anthropology/Archaeology, Business, Archival Studies, Squamish Language, or a related field—or strong cultural knowledge with willingness to complete required training.
- * 2–4 years of experience in archival work, event coordination, cultural liaison roles, or similar community-based activities.
- * Knowledge of archival descriptive standards and archival science.
- * Experience planning, delivering, and evaluating archival or records-focused programs.
- * Strong relationships-building skills with internal and external partners.
- * Knowledge of Squamish culture, traditions, and heritage is strongly preferred.
- * Cultural humility and respect for Sḵwx̱wú7mesh values, sovereignty, and self-determination.
- * Demonstrates extensive knowledge of, and strong connection to, the Squamish community.

- Salary: $62,500 - $87,500
- Candidates are typically offered compensation between the beginning to the midpoint of the range.
