- Ontario Line South
- Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projets are to design, build
- and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (South Civil) package.
- Working together as Ontario Transit Group we are currently mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works to commence in 2023. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.
- The project will strengthen Ontario’s economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.
- What is the project?
- A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River)
Stations
- One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station
- Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations
- Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown)

- Job Description
- The Architecture Design Coordinator is responsible for coordinating design activities across all project phases. They will review specifications and drawings, prepare procurement packages, assess bids, and support construction by managing shop drawings, RFIs, and design-related issues. This role ensures seamless collaboration between design, procurement, and construction teams while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
- The salary range for this position is $75,000 CAD - $110,000 CAD, plus additional benefits.
- Key Responsibilities
- Design Phase
- Review specifications during the Design phase.
- Check potential alternative solutions to optimize the design.
- Review drawings before issuing IFCs drawings during the Design phase.
- Procurement Phase
- Prepare Procurement packages to launch to the market, defining the scope of work.
- Meet the bidders to revise the proposal sent through the tender process.
- Prepare technical and cost assessment of the proposals from the bidders, through the tender process.
- Construction Phase
- Define scope of work to be transferred to the Construction Team.
- Review shop drawings prepared by the subcontractors.
- Follow the approval process of the shop drawings by the Designers.
- In collaboration with the Design Team;
- Provide detailed drawings for the Construction Team.
- Review and validate the General Details for the Construction Team.
- Review and validate subcontractor’s submittals and site modification requests.
- Manage the RFI process from the subcontractors until resolution. technical issues on site related to design.
- Address technical issues on site related to design.
- Quality Team Support
- Follow MAR (Material Approval Request) process, supervising compliance with the specifications.
- Follow testing process (if needed) to prove compliance with specifications.
- Supervision and resolution of NCRs.
- Final evaluation of subcontractors/suppliers, jointly with the Construction Team.
- Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in design coordination or similar capacity.
- Relevant certifications, such as OSHA safety training, are an asset.
- Capable of reading and understanding construction drawings and documents.
- Sound computer skills such as MS Excel, MS Word, Autocad, Revit.
- Strong communication skills both oral and written.
- Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
- Adaptable to a flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with others as a team.
