Summary
- The Analyst – Finance, Insurance & Risk is responsible for the day-to-day operations of AutoCanada's Insurance and Risk programs. This role ensures the organization has comprehensive and cost-effective insurance coverage to mitigate risks across all its dealerships and operations. The role also aids in the organization's risk management program.
Key Responsibilities
- * Insurance Program Management:
- * Maintain a comprehensive insurance program that aligns with AutoCanada's risk appetite and business objectives.
- * Day-to-day oversight of a diverse portfolio of insurance policies, including but not limited to Automobile, Property, Liability, D&O, and Cyber.
- * Analyze existing insurance coverage to identify gaps and recommend enhancements.
- * Assist the Director, Treasury, to negotiate with insurance brokers and carriers to secure optimal premiums and coverage terms.
- * Stay informed on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in the insurance landscape.
- * Risk Management:
- * Collaborate with operational leaders to identify and assess potential risks across all areas of the business.
- * Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize insurance claims and losses.
- * Help facilitate regular risk assessments and audits with insurance providers to ensure the effectiveness of insurance programs.
- * Claims Management:
- * Oversee the entire claims process, from initial reporting to final resolution.
- * Develop and implement claims management procedures to ensure efficient and timely resolution of claims.
- * Manage relationships with claims adjusters and other claims service providers.
- * Analyze claims data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for loss prevention.
- * Fraud Management:
- * Develop and implement fraud prevention strategies related to insurance claims.
- * Implement controls to mitigate fraud risks, such as employee training and awareness programs.
- * Stay informed about emerging fraud trends in the automotive industry.
- * Financial Management:
- * Develop and manage the insurance budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
- * Analyze insurance expenditures, identify cost drivers, and implement cost-saving measures.
- * Prepare reports and presentations for senior management on insurance program performance.
- * Compliance and Reporting:
- * Ensure compliance with applicable insurance regulations and contractual requirements.
- * Maintain accurate records of insurance policies, claims, and related documentation.
- * Relationship Management:
- * Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance brokers, carriers, adjusters, and external legal counsel.
- * Collaborate effectively with internal departments, including operations, finance, legal, and human resources.
- * Provide guidance and support to dealership management on insurance-related matters.
Qualifications
- * Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Risk Management, Accounting, or a related field.
- * Insurance professional designation (in progress), such as a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) is required.
- * Professional designation in progress, such as Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) is an asset.
- * Solid knowledge of insurance policy wordings, insurance program design, industry standards, risk management best practices, and contract law.
- * Proven ability to analyze risks, negotiate insurance contracts, and manage claims.
- * Experience in fraud investigation and prevention, or handling crime insurance claims, is highly desirable.
- * Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- * Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
